Medical Assistant Training

Medical assisting is a multi-skilled allied health profession whose practitioners work primarily in ambulatory settings such as medical offices and clinics. Medical assistants function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and clinical procedures.

Medical Coding and Billing

Medical Coding and Billing is designed to prepare students for employment as Coders and Billers in physician’s offices, ambulatory centers health care organization and insurance companies. The objective of the Medical Coding and Billing Specialist program is to prepare students with the appropriate didactic theory and hands-on skills required and necessary, for the processing, reporting, security, and management of health information, within the health care setting. This includes, but is not limited to, structure and analysis of health data, coding, indexing, retention and reimbursement systems, data abstracting, file analysis and management, health care statistics, health record evaluation, computer systems, anatomy and physiology, and Pathophysiology.
Training for Students in Medical Coding and Billing; the use of Universal, Standardized Codes, Medical Claims and Medical Billing.

Patient Care Technician

This program emphasizes all aspects of the traditional Nursing Assistant program including Home Health Care plus Advance Nursing Assistant skills, thus allowing the student to qualify as a Patient Care Assistant. The program emphasizes Phlebotomy Techniques and EKG Monitoring Techniques, allowing the student a certificate as an EKG Monitoring Technician, and as a phlebotomy Technician. The program emphasizes specimen Collection, Infection Control, and the professionalism and confidentiality requirements of the profession. Upon completion of all course work, the student receives a Diploma as a Patient Care Technician, and is then ready to sit for the Nursing Assistant State Exam.
Program includes training students for the medical environment; One-on-One Coaching and Classroom sessions in working with other care professionals such as doctors, nurses, therapists, etc.

Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician program provides students with the technical and practical training necessary for work as an assistant to a licensed pharmacist in a variety of health system settings, including pharmacy chains, hospitals, and skilled-care facilities. Students will examine pharmacy computing, medication preparation, inventory, billing, and quality customer service care. The student acquires the knowledge in preparation of medications, intravenous mixtures, drugs and their side effects.
Healthcare Training in Pharmacy Related Functions, Preparing Prescription Medication, Checking Dosages, Compounding Techniques.

Dialysis Technician

The program is designed to prepare and equip the student with the knowledge and skills to become a Hemodialysis technician.

The Dialysis Program features the topics including the kidney, dialysis systems and equipment, complications of renal failure.

Training and Certification Course for Medical Technology Students in performing Dialysis Procedures; Proper Operation and Maintenance of Dialysis Machines.

Mental Health/Psychiatric Technician

Upon completion of the Mental Health Technician Program, the student will be able to identify the 4 phases of a crisis, identify the 4 steps in crisis intervention. Describe alcoholism, alcohol withdrawal syndrome and treatment of alcoholism. Describe the effects of substance abuse disorders on the family. List the factors to be identified in the potential suicidal client. Discuss interventional techniques for suicidal client.

Training and Instruction in handling Mental and Behavioral Health Cases; Psychosocial Analysis; Courses for Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers, Probation Officers, Therapists.

EKG Monitor Technician

Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy and physiology with emphasis on the cardiovascular system; Understand the use of medical terminology; Interpret electrocardiograph rhythms; Identify legal and ethical responsibilities; Demonstrate knowledge of blood borne diseases, including AIDS.

Training for Electrocardiography or Cardiac Monitor Technicians; Operating Equipment in Cardiology and Assisting the Cardiologist.

Phlebotomy Technician

This program entails reviewing the equipment, proper procedures for venipunture, specimen collection and handling procedures, and complications of phlebotomy. Students in this program will practice drawing blood, the safe use of needles and other equipment, proper processing of specimens and safety precautions.

Formal Training in collecting blood samples from patients for transfusion or testing.

Nursing Assistant

This practice and review session is an intensive study of all aspects of Basic Patient Care procedures, medical terminology, care of the adult patient, nutrition, fluid intake and balance, moving, lifting, and transferring procedures, etc.

Home Health Aide

To provide health care services for the patient in their home. Responsibilities of the health care aide, differences in families, basic human needs, methods of communication, record keeping, personal care, nutrition, transfer techniques, home management, infection control procedures including HIV/AIDS.
