03 days’ tour to Northern Ethiopia.

Day1. ADD-LLI.Transfer to airport.

Full day visit the unique Rock hewn church of Lalibela. This is the most important stop in the historic route, where you wonder the eleven hewn churches curved out directly from the rock during the beginning of 12th c by king Lalibela. This Rock hewn churches are considered to be as the eighth wonder of the world. O/N hotel in Lalibela.

Day2. (LLI-GDQ) Transfer to airport for your flight to Gondar.

In the morning transfers to the air Port for your flight to Gondar. In the afternoon city tour in the Royal compound, where the enchanting 17th and 18th century castles stand, the church of Debre Birahn selase and the bath of Fasil. O/n hotel in Gondar.

DAY3. Drive to Bahir Dar (180 km) and fly to Addis Ababa.

Make a boat trip on Lake Tanta to see the Lake and its surrounding monasteries. Lake Tana is Ethiopia’s first largest lake and source of the Blue Nile. There are more than 30 islands on the lake and most of which are churches and monasteries. They were founded during the reign of king Amde Zion in the first half of fourteenth century. However, some of the monasteries on the islands such as Tana qirkos were used even much earleier. This island is belied to be hosting the Ark of the covenant (Moses Ark) for about 800 years after menilik I, brought from Israel before it was taken to Axum.

The intiror part of this isolated island monasteries are decorated with beautiful church wall paintings and stuffed with percious Ethiopian treasures such as royal crowns, ancient bibles, historical art, sacred relics, including the remains of royals, etc.

After noon drive 35 km south of Bahir Dar town to admire the Blue Nile waterfalls. The Blue Nile water fall is one of the most magnificent water fall in Africa. It is a Spectacular view when the tremendous water falls in 45 m deep gorge specially during and soon after the main rain season.

Day5. Drive to Bahir Dar-fly to Addis Ababa.

In the morning drive to Bahir Dar to see the lake and its monasteries on the isolated island of Lake Tana by Boat. It is probably the longest drives hour in the whole trip. You drive along the Northern historic route and visit the monastery of Debre Libano after 110 km from Addis Ababa. You start to descend 1500 m to cross the Blue Nile gorge. Here you see the spectacular view of the Blue Nile river gorge. After you finish the uphill drive reach at Dejen and drive a flat and a fertile landscape of the Amhara people, where the typical Ethiopian cereal Teff is highly produced. O/N hotel in Bahir Dar.

Day3. Boat trip on lake tana’s monastery and drive to see Blue Nile waterfall.

The same day you could able to see the old city of Axum. In Axum you visit ruin palaces, the obelisk of Axum, tombs of the king, archeological museum and some old churches. According to the Ethiopian orthodox church the Ark of Moses is resting in the holy city of Axum, where no one allowed to see it. O/N hotel in Axum.

Day8. Early morning drive to Hawzen.

Visit Yaha’s oldest Temple on your way to Hawzen. This is the oldest Temple in Africa that still stand on the ground. Yaha is believed to be Ethiopian first capital center and is one of an active archeological site in Ethiopia due to its historical background. Yaha was even earlier than the founding of Axum city. Visit Debre Damo monastery before you proceed to Hawzen. To reache on the top of the mountain monastery is possible only by using leather made rope. This is one of the sacred place in Ethiopia where the females are not allowed to visit, but they can drive up to the foot of the mountain to see the spectacular view of the the surounding. Day9. Excursion to Geralta rock hewn churches.

Visiting some rock hewn church from Geralta range. This was the first place in Ethiopia where the constractions of rock hewn churches set out between 4th and 10th century. Over 150 rock hewn churches are found in Ethiopia and more than half percent of the rock hewn churches are scattered in Geralta region. O/N in lodge Hawzen.

Day10. Drive to Mekele(80km)

Visit one or two rock hewn churches on the way to Mekel. Mekele is the second largest city in Ethiopia next to Addis Ababa. Late afternoon walk in the town to experience the city life. O/n hotel in Mekele.

Day11. fly to Addis Ababa.

Afternoon shopping and visit the reaming sightseeing in Addis Ababa. Departure after a farewell dinner party in one of Ethiopian traditional restaurant.

Day4. Drive to Debark-Sankaber.

Drive 100 kilometer from Gondar to Debark, where you are going to take the entrance ticket, the scout and the local guide in Debark after two hours ‘driving. Reach at the parks territory after 35 km drive from Debark, where you sarte to spot on the troops of Gelada Baboon and the amazing land features of the Simien national park. This day you walk three hours with an altitude of over 3000 m from sea level and enjoying the spectacular view of the park. O/N lodge in semien mountain park.

Day5. Drive to Axum.

After breakfast Leave early the park and drive to Axum. After one-hour’s drive, start to descend the escarpment and pass the most an amazing serpent road from the high plateau to the lowest point Tekeze gorge. This is one of the lowest gorge in Ethiopia next to the Blue Nile gorge. In this hot region grows some desert vegetation including Acacia, frank incense and baobab trees. O/N hotel in Axum.

Day6. Full day visit the old city of Axum and its surroundings.

Full day exploring the old city of Axum, the ancient capital of the mythical kingdom of Aksum and is supposed to be founded by the faboulus queen, queen of shaba 950BC. Visit the steles, tombs of the King, ruin palce of Queen of shaba, stone inscription (written in Sabisn, Geez and greeks language), the archaeological museum and one of the cathedral of Axum.
