Social Security disability

To qualify for Social Security disability benefits, someone must have paid into social security payroll taxes. Which is the FICA, (Federal Insurance Contribution Act) and have earned at least 6 credits during the last 13 quarters. To be currently insured the number of the needed credits increases with age up until 62. Fully insured status is achieved when someone has paid into Social Security for 10 years earning 40 credits.
