About Us

International Association Of Women (IAW)

is committed to help women and young children of all ages, race, and nationality .The IAW is involved in a number of ways to represent women in the USA and in the International Arena. We are committed to undertaking work on specific International endeavours. As well as facilitating the operation of a women's Human Rights working groups.

Women that are forced to flee their country of origin often do so for reasons that differ from male refugees. Women are often victims of sexual violence and many times flee from oppression and persecution from society rather than the state. Often the state is unable or unwilling to protect these women. About 50 per cent of women claiming asylum in the usa and other countries have been raped and many are traumatised due to their experiences. Because women's experiences differ from that of men, they need different treatment and many times there is a lack of awareness about this from officials. Most of the time they are tortured by their husbands or other family members. Many are traumatized due to the physical torture. These women need help. IAW committed to help these women.

Women who have immigrated to the USA and other countries of their origin forced or of free will, are more likely then migrant men to suffer from discrimination. They are also more likely to be exposed to forced labour, sexual exploitation and other kinds of gender-based violence. They are more likely to accept hazardous work conditions and low salaries that are below the minimum wage.

The IAW's mission with Women aims to support women to speak for themselves about what is important to them, including wider issues of ward management and failures of the system to address the needs of women in all aspects of treatment and care. IAW will advocate when necessary, and works in partnership with secure service providers to ensure that there is a formal feedback procedure set out as part of a formal agreement. IAW is able to work in this way by building consistent and sustainable relationships. IAW is currently developing its national structure to operate a more effective tracking system for women; ensuring that women can get ongoing support from women they know and trust and who they know respect them.

The Core work of IAw also informs the campaigning role of the organisation. IAW was instrumental in ensuring that women's views were represented in the development of The National Strategy for Women's Mental Health: Into the Mainstream, Strategic Development of Mental Health Care for Women, and we continue to represent women's views at a policy level.
