IPL Spa

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) uses flashlamps to produce high intensity light over broad visible and infrared wavelengths with filters that select the desired range. IPL is used to treat dyschromia, rosacea, melasma, acne, photodamage, vascular and pigmented lesions, and rhytides.

The laser/IPL device emits a range of lightwaves that are then tuned and targeted at hemoglobin (the red blood cells in the blood vessels) or melanin (the brown pigment in freckles and age spots). The light beam passes through the skin and is absorbed by either hemoglobin or melanin resulting in damage to the vessel wall or fragmenting of melanin pigment. The now damaged hemoglobin and melanin are then absorbed by the body.

Depending on the level of skin damage, you will need anywhere from 3 to 5 treatments. Each treatment will be a month apart. Severe damage will most likely need more than 5 treatments.

While the treatment is well tolerated, you may experience mild discomfort. The level of discomfort will decrease over time
