About Us

Jocelyn Nixon, CHt

I have always been extremely empathetic, focusing on what made people act and react as opposed to definitively finding a convenient label to assign them based on those same actions and reactions. As a child, I observed with keen interest the behavior of those around me and then one day I seized upon the most fascinating person I had met up until that time. I had discovered “the me.” Like most people, I was convinced that I was the best me I could be. I was unique and no matter how imperfect, I had to accept my flaws and love me in spite of any quirks and flaws.

Eventually, I began to include other people in my studies, making it formal and pursuing course work in productivity, advertising and psychology. I received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marketing and accepted that I could not only discover what made others tick, but what made me tick as well. I discovered the “Tao Te Ching”, “A Course in Miracles”, Jose Silva and Ram Dass’s “Be Here Now.” I would go on to experience the general ups and downs of life; I sleep walked through marriage, divorce, loss and then that wall Oprah speaks of came along and dropped its full weight on my head. For the first time in my life, I was less than thrilled with the experience I was having. I was angry with this life and I was angry with myself. I no longer liked “that me” I had found a while back. Her quirks weren’t as novel and endearing as I had once found them and her mistakes were becoming costly.

I went back to the drawing board, choosing to begin a process of ego separation, self-hypnosis, regression therapy and nature therapy to deliver a more balanced, happier, self-assured version of my former self.

I eventually began to help friends and family begin anew as well.

As a Certified Hypnotherapist, I am capable of assisting you find the less than optimal parts of yourself and begin a process of rebuilding your personality, your passions, your abilities and . . your very Life!

What is this SELF?

It is accepted science that the subconscious mind is playing a major role in the stage production of our lives. While you might like to think that your personality is what makes you authentically yourself, you must stop and ask yourself what that means. How does this personality show up and what does it do for you? The dictionary defines personality as; the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual's distinctive character.

In Hypnotherapy, those characteristics are informed by the conscious mind, the subconscious mind and the super conscious mind. The mind is largely the personality and yet most of us have no idea how we came to have the ones we have. Yes it is true that we were there as it developed. We recall the day that we found out we were a little jealous, a little manipulative, a bit judgmental or even capable of incredible compassion. But what is informing this mind?

WITHIN YOU LIES THE TRUTH

The conscious mind is the analytical mind. It is actively processing the environment in which you come into contact. It is like a computer recording every single piece of stimulus around you; sounds, smells, words, emotions, color, everything. It is with this mind that you reason and make decisions. You feel quite familiar with this mind even though you don’t use half of the recorded data it files away.

The subconscious mind is where most of the information observed with the conscious mind is stored. One of the most interesting facets of the subconscious is that it prioritizes the storage of events relative to the emotional intensity of said event or experience. Storage of memories related to events containing fear, pain and anger are of the highest priority.

The subconscious mind has been called the reptilian mind due to the fact that it is reactive and motivated by the need to survive even when survival may not actually be at risk. It is capable of misreading stimulus based upon the fact that a past traumatic experience that was truly a threat may share variables involved in a current event and may be viewed as posing the exact same threat although the two events are vastly different. You may have experienced this yourself when over reacting to some benign situation. You can see where this can lead to problems and when acted upon, character flaws.

Hypnotherapy is the most efficient method to access the subconscious mind.
