Online flight check-in

Online flight check-in opens 24-48 hours before your flight departure. You'll need your 6-digit airline confirmation code (example: L84RTL) from your itinerary to check in.

Good to know

  • Depending on your airline, after checking in online you may be able to print your boarding pass, save it to your mobile phone, or pick it up from a kiosk at the airport.
  • Airport check-in usually opens 2-3 hours before flight departure.
  • You will need your boarding pass to go through airport security. Check with your airline for any other required documents.
  • Plan to arrive at the airport at least 1-2 hours before your domestic flight, and at least 2-3 hours before your international flight.
  • To review your flight schedule and trip details, check your itinerary.

Cancel your flight

You can cancel most flight bookings online. For some airfares, if you cancel within 24 hours, no penalty fees apply.

To cancel your flight booking

  1. Sign in to view your bookings.
  2. In Upcoming, select the itinerary you wish to cancel.
  3. Select Cancel Flight under Manage Booking. If the option to cancel is not available, please contact us.

Roundtrip flights with 2 one-way fares

  • To cancel your roundtrip flight, you must cancel each one-way flight individually.
  • You may be able to cancel one or both of your one-way flights online at no charge, within 24 hours of booking. If you don't see the option to cancel online, please contact us.

Good to know

  • If one of your one-way flights is operated by a low-cost airline, you must cancel it with the airline directly. Then, please contact us to cancel the second ticket in your trip.
  • If both one-way flights are operated by low-cost airlines, please contact each individual airline directly to cancel.
  • To cancel a flight that is part of a vacation package booking, please read Change or cancel your vacation package.
  • If you booked your flight yesterday or today, you may be able to cancel your ticket for a full refund.
  • Some fares are non-refundable. Review your itinerary for fare rules, restrictions, and ticket change fees.
  • If you cancel a non-refundable flight reservation, the airline may issue you a flight credit for a future booking instead of a refund. For more information, please read Use your flight credit.
  • Any applicable penalty fees for canceled flights are charged by the airline, not us.

To change a low-cost airline booking, please contact the airline directly.

Good to know

  • Before making a change, review the Airline Rules & Regulations in your itinerary.
  • If your roundtrip flight is made up of 2 one-way tickets, read Roundtrip flights with 2 one-way fares.
  • If you find booking mistakes, such as incorrect traveler names, see Flight booking mistakes.
  • Any applicable penalty fees for changed flights are charged by the airline, not Expedia.

Ticket change requirements

  • Tickets cannot be transferred to another passenger.
  • To upgrade your seat, please call the airline directly.
  • Rebooked flights must be for the same traveler and on the same airline as the original booking.
  • Flight credits must be used for the same traveler and the same airline as the original booking.

Additional charges on rebooked flights

  • Airline change fee, ranging from USD150 (domestic) to USD300 (international)
  • Difference in airfare (if the cost of your new flight exceeds your flight credit)

The total cost of your change will depend on your airfare, your ticket details, and any applicable penalties or fees.

View your flight booking

What to do

  • Sign in to view your bookings.

If you don't see your booking in My Trips, it could be because:

  • You booked your flight without signing in.
  • You booked your flight with Expedia+ points. These bookings can take up to 24 hours after booking to show in My Trips.

To view a flight you booked without signing in

  • Go to Find your itinerary.
  • Enter the email address you booked with.
  • Enter the itinerary number from your confirmation email.
  • Select Find Itinerary.

Good to know

  • To print or email your booking, select the Print or Email icon in your itinerary and follow the instructions.

Refund timelines

How it works

  • Expedia may take up to 5 days to process your refund.
  • Your Expedia refund receipt email contains details regarding your refund amount, how, and when you'll get your refund.
  • Refunds for low-cost airline tickets, rental car bookings, and cruise bookings are handled by third parties (namely the specific low-cost airline, rental car company, or cruise line), not Expedia. Please contact the respective third party regarding refund timelines and related questions.
  • Once your refund is processed, your financial institution may take up to 7 days to post the credit to your account, and up to 2 billing cycles to show the credit on your statement.
  • If you're eligible for a refund and paid for your entire booking with points, you will receive your refund in points (minus any cancellation fees, which will be deducted from your points).
  • If you're eligible for a refund and paid for your booking with points and a credit card, you will receive your refund in points and on your credit card (minus any cancellation fees, which will be deducted from your card refund first, then from your points).

Flights

  • Some flight bookings are eligible for a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours.
  • Some fares are non-refundable. If you cancel such a fare, you may be eligible for a flight credit instead.

Hotels

  • Most hotel rooms are fully refundable if you cancel before the hotel's cancellation deadline.
  • Some hotel rooms are non-refundable.
  • If you cancel a non-refundable hotel booking, or cancel your booking after the hotel's cancellation deadline, you are not eligible for a refund, regardless of payment method used (points or card).

Vacation Packages
Some flights booked as part of a vacation package are refundable if they are cancelled within 24 hours of booking. Read Change or cancel your vacation package for more information.

Cars

  • Pre-paid bookings must be cancelled at least 6 hours prior to pick-up for a full refund.
  • If you return your prepaid car rental early, you will not be refunded for any unused time.

Cruises

  • Most cruise bookings are eligible for a full refund if you cancel up to 90 days before departure.

Activities

  • Most activity bookings are eligible for a full refund if you cancel before the activity's cancellation deadline.
  • Some activities are non-refundable
Flight booking confirmation

After booking a flight, you will receive a confirmation email from Expedia that contains your Expedia itinerary number and 6-character airline confirmation code. Review this email to verify that your travel details are correct.

To view the most up-to-date information, including seat assignments, please access your itinerary prior to departure.

If you have an Expedia account

  1. Sign in to view your bookings.
  2. Choose the itinerary you wish to view.
  3. If you want a copy of your itinerary, select the Print icon.

If you booked without an Expedia account

  1. Go to the View your itineraries page and enter your email address and itinerary number under Find your itinerary without signing in.
  2. Select Find Itinerary.
  3. If you want to print a copy of your itinerary, select the Print icon.

If you forgot your itinerary number

  1. Go to Forgot your itinerary number and enter the email address you booked with.
  2. Select Send Itinerary to receive an email listing your active and completed itineraries.

Good to know

  • You can use a printed copy of your itinerary as an E-Ticket.
