COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)
Change occurs by learning to modify dysfunctional thought patterns. Once a client understands the relationship among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, s/he is able to modify or change the patterns of thinking to cope with stressors in a more positive manner.

DIALECTICAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (DBT)
Change happens through implementation and improvement of mindfulness, skills to manage distress tolerance, emotional regulations, and inter-personal problem solving skills. Emphasis is placed on accepting uncomfortable thoughts instead of struggling with them.

REALITY THERAPY
Change occurs through identifying and meeting needs as well as developing satisfying interpersonal relationship. By implementing and action plan, which includes self -evaluation and a sense of inner control, effective change can be realized.

SOLUTION –FOCUSED THERAPY
Change occurs through accessing client’s current strengths and resources. Emphasizes finding solutions to a problem, not on discovering the cause or origins of the problem. In this theory, client implements small and large changes to achieve their preferred future goal(s).
