The patient is not able to actively extend the digits. Therefore, utilizing this device, the patient is able to regain function of their hand. The device can also be modified by changing springs tension within the housing unit. This unit may acquire stronger spring tensions according to patients' needs.

Flexor/Tendon Repair Zone 2

In the video below, the device is used for Flexor/Tendon repair zone 2, FDS/FDP and Digital Nerve repair. This is attached on the volar surface of the forearm to the existing dorsal blocking splint. This allows the four finger protocol with slow controlled passive flexion of the four digits and active extension against the spring load tension. This utilizes a lighter spring load for this particular patient. As the video shows, the therapist preferred the nail attachment method. However, other methods can be used or modified. In the evening, the patient is instructed to unloop the hooks to keep the IP joints in a neutral position to prevent joint contractures. The therapist has the advantage of utilizing other protocols secondary to the ease of attachment and detaching.
