San Marcos High School

San Marcos High School
San Marcos, CA

In the full rebuild and huge enlargement of the high school, (2) 10-fan towers were installed handling 1,325 GPM each and going from an 88’F inlet temperature to a very low outlet temperature of 76’F. The Danfoss VFD and Tower Tech Control Panel for each tower were provided in a single NEMA-3R enclosure.

Especially since being on a high school campus, it was important that the drift was only 0.0004% which is over 10 times less than a metal tower with the fans up top. There is no sunlight exposure to the condenser water, which can also reduce the chemical treatment by 35-40% which lowers chemical costs and reduces chemicals in the drift.

They also liked the fact that if a motor ever went out, Tower Tech would continue to handle the load and a service person with a ladder could do the motor replacement while the other nine motors would simply run at a slightly higher RPM. The metal towers are not capable of this and would usually need a crane for motor replacement and lose the full load.
