I called in for quotations for a re-key because my keys were stolen a few days ago at a gathering in my home, so I was worried someone will use the key to come and steal when I'm not home. My fiancee, our two year old and myself found ourselves stuck outside of our apartment on an insanely hot night about a week ago. Luckily my neighbor had a card handy for VIP Lock & Key! I called and explained that our lock was broken, and he showed up 8 minutes later. He then was gracious enough to argue with our obnoxiously condescending building manager over the phone who could not understand that a locksmith was necessary at 8:30 at night with a toddler in 90 degree weather and wanted to call his own guy who doesn't do emergency calls. So instead of waiting for several hours while the manager figured out what he thought was needed, the locksmith from VIP told the manager what he was going to do, said what he would be charging and got to work. It took almost 45 minutes of door wrangling, a drill, a chisel and 3 airbags to get our absurdly stuck door to open. He then showed me the broken component, how the door didn't have a metal plate for the latch to slide in, and how that contributed to the problem. He also left me with instructions for installation should the building manager try to incorrectly install another one.
