WHA also reserves the right to speak out to bring attention to neglected crises, challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system, and to advocate for improved medical treatments for refugees in the bush and air ambulance protocols.

WHA's charter provides assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made conflict. WHA do so irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions. WHA is a private international association (501(c) 3) made up mainly of pilots, health sector workers and refugee airlift professional experienced in war-torn areas of the world.

WHA obvserves neutrality and impartiality in the name of universal refugee ethics and the right to humanitarian assistance and claims full and unhindered freedom in the exercise of its functions.

Members undertake to respect their professional code of ethics and to maintain complete independence from all political, economic or religious powers.

As volunteers, members understand the risks and dangers of the mission they carry out and make no claim for themselves or their assigns for any form of compensation other than that which the organization might be able to afford them.

WHA operates independently of any political, military or religious agenda. Our humanitarian teams will conduct evaluations on the ground to determine a population's medical evaluation needs before opening programs, aiming to fill gaps that exist (rather then replication services that are already offered) or reach communities that are not being assisted(' the bush').

The key to WHA's ability to act independently in response to a crisis is its independent funding. One hundred percent of WHA's overall funding will come from private, non-governmental sources. As an organization, WHA is neutral. It does not take sides in armed conflicts, provides care on the basis of need alone and pushes for increased independent access to victims of conflict as required under international humanitarian law.

Bearing Witness & Speaking Out -- WHA humanitarian teams will often witness violence, atrocities, and neglect in the course of our work, much of which occurs in places that rarely receive international attention. At times, WHA may speak out publicly in an effort to bring a forgotten crisis into view, alert the public to abuses occurring beyond the headlines, criticize the inadequacies of the aid system, challenge the diversion of humanitarian aid for political interests, or call out policies that restrict access to medical care or essential medicines.

WHA will call on the United Nations Security Council to pay greater attention to the crisis targeting of civilians in conflicts, something that is occurring with greater frequency in SYRIA, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC , CHAD, MALI, and SOMALIA. WHA must be able to call on an international military response to genocide and forced displacement of populations. WHA humanitarian teams on the ground will be in constant dialogue with local authorities, warring parties, and other aid agencies in an attempt to reinforce the organization's operational independence and to faciitate the delivery of the best possible medical, humanitarian care for refugees and their communities.
