Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does my factory warranty remain in effect when you service my car ?

Absolutely! You receive the exact same coverage.

  • Are you able to service my vehicle as well as a dealership ?

A: Yes we can! Actually, we believe we do a better job servicing your vehicle. For example, you will never wait weeks for an appointment. We attend to your vehicle ASAP. You just have to decide when you want to bring it in. Most jobs in early are out the same day. If its something simple, you can even wait.

  • When is a warranty void ?

When a non-certified auto mechanic alters the manufacturer's original parts your warranty becomes null and void.

  • What's the difference between service and repair ?

Service is scheduled maintenance. Repair means to fix a part that has failed.

  • Will you give me a quote before starting work ?

You will get a written quote or a call on the phone to speak with you directly prior to the work being done.

  • Will you remind me when I need my next service ?

Oil and filter changes have decal reminders placed on the upper part of your windshield. On your receipt, the mechanic will also write down those things which need to be done soon.

  • My car is a running rough, will a Tune Up fix it ?

At Dr. Marv's we want to know why you are requesting a car tune up in the first place. What we have found is that if the car runs poorly or differently than normal, the customer often automatically asks for a car tune up. Today's vehicles are very sophisticated and full of computers and sensors that can cause your car to act strangely. So a tune up might not fix the problem, and a proper diagnosis from the mechanic could be beneficial.

  • What exactly is a Tune Up? AND How much is it ?

Well, a car a tune up involves replacing the fuel filter, all the spark plugs, air filter, PCV filter and distributor ignition rotor plus all applicable labor charges. At Dr. Marv's our price includes all of the aforementioned. If you are price comparing between shops, our price is naturally going to be higher if the other shop's tune up package is ONLY replacing spark plugs. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples if you are calling around.

  • If I am looking to purchase another vehicle, will you examine it so that I have a better understanding about its condition and valuation ?

Absolutely! Your safety and that of your passengers is of great concern to us at Dr. Marv's. By appointment we will examine your car thoroughly which includes putting it on a lift along with a road test to determine its safety, reliability and if its been in an accident.

  • What exactly is a Tune Up? AND How much is it ?

Most auto manufacturers recommend replacing the transmission fluid after the first 30,000 miles and every 15,000 miles thereafter. Of course the transmission fluid level should be checked periodically as you should do with all fluids in the car. Transmission fluid needs to be checked when the engine is running so you must be extra careful at that time or better still, have us do it for you.
