CROWNS & BRIDGES
DENTAL CROWNS
Dental crowns can drastically improve the look of your smile by filling in empty gaps with natural looking teeth. At CCED, we make sure that your crowns are created with the highest quality materials in Philadelphia and are placed with the utmost care.
The purpose of dental crowns are to act as "caps" that cover a damaged tooth or cover an implant. Our providers are able to shape the crown to give your smile a natural look and fill in gaps if needed.

TYPES OF CROWNS
CERAMIC
Made with porcelain materials, ceramic crowns are primarily used to fill in gaps or cover teeth and implants on your front teeth. This material is able to match and blend with the surrounding teeth color to bring out a natural smile.
PORCELAIN-FUSED TO METAL
Stronger than ceramic crowns, porcelain-fused to metal crowns are a lot more durable due to the metal structure. Although strong, this type of crown reduces the natural appearance of the tooth.

GOLD ALLOY
A mixture of different metals, gold, and copper, this crown is well trusted to be highly durable and protect the tooth. Does no damage to the original tooth itself.
BASE METAL ALLOYS
Stronger than ceramic crowns, porcelain-fused to metal crowns are a lot more durable due to the metal structure. Although strong, this type of crown reduces the natural appearance of the tooth.
THE PROCESS
First, the dentist will take a look at the damaged tooth to see if it is fitted for a crown. If needed, the dentist may file it down or fill it in depending on the situation. Once the tooth is properly shaped, your dentist will take an impression of the tooth and its surrounding areas and send it to a dental lab where a permanent crown is created. For now, you'll walk out of the office with a temporary crown to protect the shaped tooth.
Once we've received the crown from the lab, we will contact you to schedule an appointment to have the permanent crown positioned and screwed onto the tooth with an adhesive.
The procedure is now complete and you now have a crown that will function and feel like a normal tooth. If this sounds like and option for your next dental visit in Philadelphia, give us a call at 215-223-555 to schedule your next appointment! We will work together with you to help ensure we can give you a smile to last a lifetime.
DENTAL BRIDGES
Dental Bridges are made up of two or more crowns that bridge the gap created by a missing tooth or teeth. The bridge is attached onto the teeth surrounding the gap (also called abutment teeth) which are filed down to fit the bridge.
THE PROCESS
First, the dentist will reshape the teeth
surrounding the gap to allow room for the
bridge's crown to fit. A portion of the
enamel will be removed to ensure a good
fit. Impressions will then be taken that
will be sent to a dental lab so they can
create the proper bridge. In the meantime,
your dentist will give you a temporary bridge
to wear.
On your second visit, your dentist will replace
the temporary bridge with the new one from
the lab. Adjustments may be made to make
sure that the bridge fits perfectly and the bite is fitted. The bridge is then cemented into place.
BENEFITS OF DENTAL BRIDGES
- Dental bridges can last 5-15 years and even longer with proper care.
- Restores your smile
- Helps with chewing and speaking compared to doing so with a gap.
